Only, instead of actually rebalancing gold rounds, they decided that it would be better to pump the HP of every tank in the game and buff all standard shell damage. They used to be sold for real money, but that was abolished years and years ago) because the game has slowly become balanced around them instead of regular ammo. So in ever-more-laughable Tanks news, WG decided they were going to finally balance gold shells (a round which costs a lot more game credits than your standard round, but which has higher penetration.
